It's tough for any divorced family to sort out the kids' holiday plans -- but we imagine it's extra-challenging for divorced celebrity couples like Jon and Kate Gosselin and Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards. Not only do they have to worry about the usual things -- dividing the kids' time fairly, buying enough pumpkin pie -- but a holiday fight could easily turn into a tabloid nightmare for the whole family. Thankfully, these two former couples managed to pull off a drama-free holiday by calling a Thanksgiving truce.
The Gosselins decided to avoid a fight by splitting the holiday down the middle. Kate told E! Online that she would be taking "the first half" and that Jon would have "the second half." According to RadarOnline, the children actually spent all of Thanksgiving day with Kate, while Jon and girlfriend Ellen Ross took them the following day.
As for Charlie Sheen, the actor was reportedly prepared to spend Thanksgiving all alone. It hasn't exactly been a cheery time for the Two and a Half Men actor: He's in the middle of divorcing wife Brooke Mueller and he's being sued by porn actress Capri Anderson for a night at New York City's Plaza Hotel gone extremely wrong. Turns out, however, that Richards is a more generous ex-wife than Sheen probably deserves. Despite the ongoing repercussions from Sheen's Big Apple meltdown, the actress invited him to spend the day with her and daughters Sam, 6, and Lola, 5.
"Charlie spent the afternoon eating turkey with Denise and their two daughters," a friend of the family told Popeater. "It was a wonderful time for them all to be together and Denise's idea that they all sit down together as one happy family as if that awful night had never happened."
We're not sure we'd have done the same in Denise Richards' shoes -- but we think she just taught her daughters a valuable lesson on the true meaning of the holidays. (Even if they don't understand it for a few years yet.)
