MTV is returning to the scene of the party. For the second straight year, mtvU's Spring Break week will set up shop at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas from March 20 to 22. MTV Networks will be poolside with multi-platinum rapper Young Jeezy, MTV Artist to Watch 2012 Dev and U.K. boy-band sensation the Wanted.

Additionally, a resident DJ will be on hand to entertain the flocks of college students making their pilgrimage to Sin City. Spring breakers will have access to exclusive screening parties with MTV celebrities Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Deena Nicole Cortese from "Jersey Shore," as well as Leroy and Naomi from "The Challenge: Battle of the Exes."

Young Jeezy heads to Las Vegas in the wake of his Gold-certified fourth studio album, "Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition," which yielded the #1 urban smash "I Do." Electropop singer Dev will be previewing songs from her anticipated March release, The Night the Sun Came Up." U.K. band the Wanted heads to Spring Break after being named an MTV Push artist. They recently concluded a tour with Justin Bieber.

mtvU Spring Break 2012 marks MTV's second-consecutive year at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. MTV has a long-standing, close relationship with Las Vegas that's full of big moments and epic performances. MTV's first trip to Vegas took place in 2002 when seven strangers came together in "Real World 12: Las Vegas." The network ruled Vegas all summer in 2005 with MTV's "Summer on the Strip," and in 2007, the MTV Video Music Awards" took over the Palms Casino Resort.

Jennifer Aniston?s Wanderlust Flops

There?s no denying that Friends wouldn?t have been the same show without Jennifer Aniston, but it seems the starts glory is slowly starting to fade as her new movie bombed this weekend. Wonderlust opened at horrible number 8 with $6.6 million, with Act of Valor opening number 1 with $24.7 million. As of late, Jen?s movies haven?t really been taking off. Her last big movie was when she played Dr. Julia Harris in the 2010 hit, Horrible Bosses, which grossed $28.3 million opening weekend. The only problem is that in Horrible Bosses she wasn?t really in the leading cast, in my opinion P.J. Bryne, Kevin Spacey, and Colin Farrell pretty much made the film what is. Her last good starring role was probably in The Bounty Hunter, which grossed $20.6 million opening weekend, yet the movie only got 5.2 stars on IMDB and with plenty of flops in between. It?s kind of sad to see Jen starting to slowly lose her touch, I still think she?s an amazing actor; it?s just that she?s not really appealing to the younger audiences anymore. The main movie-goers now are younger audiences and they don?t really want to see the older stars, they want [...]

Anne Hathaway Talks Lindsay Lohan

She?s largely avoided any public scandal or personal breakdown, but Anne Hathaway still says she can relate to Lindsay Lohan.

During an interview, the ?Princess Diaries? starlet shared why she feels so similar to the troubled ?Mean Girls? tabloid target.

Anne began, "Lindsay Lohan and I have more in common than people think. We've all done things we shouldn't. It is just that I did stuff at college when nobody knew about it, so I'm not a saint. I wasted time doing self-destructive things."

"I found you can only dance on so many table tops. I got all that out of my system and I am healthy and grounded."

And Ms. Hathaway credits her mom for being so well-adjusted. "My mother, Kate McCauley, taught me to be always understanding of other people -- and to have a sense of humor about yourself."

"Mom has also encouraged me not to be one of those people who worry about weight. I know when people refer to me as a 'regular' girl, that it is a code word for 'fat' in Hollywood. It is completely understandable, as a teenager, to fret about your body. It is scary, because you don't know how it is going to end up. But I am not a teenager any more and my body has chosen its shape. I would rather be strong than skinny."

Will 'Dark Knight Rises' Spell Oscars For Batman?

We break down the potential nominations for the Caped Crusader in The Weekly Rising.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Believe it or not, when Oscar night 2013 rolls around, Batman could be donning his dress cape and walking the red carpet as a nominee.

Granted, no one has seen Christopher Nolan's final Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises," yet, but it's not entirely outlandish to imagine it could have a big night at the Academy Awards next year. If Nolan sticks the landing, it could mean an unprecedented amount of awards consideration for the beloved series.

For an enormously successful movie franchise, Nolan's Batman films have a frighteningly disappointing number of Academy Awards wins and nominations: nine nods, two wins. That's right: Aside from Heath Ledger's well-earned Best Supporting Actor award, the only other Oscar for the series was for Best Sound Editing on "The Dark Knight."

We here at MTV News would love to see the legend end with a dark victory at the Academy Awards, so here are categories where "The Dark Knight Rises" could see nominations — you know, if it's any good.

Best Cinematography: Wally Pfister
Nolan's trusted cinematographer has been with him since the very beginning, shooting every major feature for Nolan since his breakout, "Memento." Pfister won his first Academy Award last year for "Inception," but for his next collaboration with Nolan, they're going even bigger. If the prologue is any indication, IMAX's role in "Rises" will be unlike anything we've ever seen, embracing the large format in new and exciting ways. With IMAX getting a push as the new trendy technology to get people into theaters, Pfister and Nolan's role in embracing the format could spell an Oscar nomination.

Best Original Score: Hans Zimmer
It doesn't get more ambitious than collecting the chanting of thousands of people around the world and incorporating it into a film's score. Zimmer's worldwide vision for his third time scoring a Batman movie could mark his 10th nomination and his second for a Nolan movie. Sadly, a disqualification due to stiff category rules may be likely.

Best Director: Christopher Nolan
If the Academy collectively loves anything, it's certainly fond of paying old debts. They'll award artists who should have won years ago (Scorsese), and they'll award overall achievements ("Return of the King" wins everything). By the end of all this, Nolan will have done something for the ages. He legitimized a genre and restored an American icon to his rightful place. Not only that, he made two (and hopefully three) excellent and ambitious movies. This is the year you reward him for his efforts and heal the wounds of two egregious snubs for "The Dark Knight" and "Inception."

Best Actor: Christian Bale
Here's a wonderful fact about the age we live in: A very recent Oscar winner is playing Batman. One of the greatest actors of a generation is playing one of the most iconic heroes of all time. That fact alone at the very least puts Christian Bale in the mix. But knowing Nolan, he's not just going to put Bale up against a new set of villains, a flaw of the last set of Batman films. He's going to tell a story about Batman, one that's going to push the hero and the man playing him to the edge.

Best Picture
Could "The Dark Knight Rises" be the next "Return of the King"? The only problem there is that the Academy nominated each "Lord of the Rings" film individually before the finale won the big prize. Nolan's Batman films have always found themselves just outside awards consideration, the closest calling coming after "The Dark Knight" in 2009. Many pointed to "The Dark Knight" as a reason for the expansion of the Best Picture category the following year, so with 10 potential nominees now, statistically, it may finally be its year.

What Oscars do you think Nolan's Batman franchise should have already won? Let me know via Twitter @KPSull!

'Hunger Games' And 'Twilight' Oddly Absent From Oscars

'Harry Potter,' meanwhile, was shut out of its two nominations — but couldn't the YA franchises' stars get involved?
By Kara Warner

There's still a lot to discuss and digest from the 2012 Oscars, from the glitz and glamour, to the surprises, snubs and glaring omissions.

Speaking to the snubs and omissions category, MTV News couldn't help but notice that, for an awards show designed to appeal to all movie fans, three of the most buzz-worthy film franchises of the last decade were mostly left out of the festivities: "Harry Potter," "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games."

This is not a story about the lack of nominations for the films; we've already complained about the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" shutout and "The Hunger Games" hasn't even been released yet. But why not involve a few of these noteworthy films' castmembers in the telecast? We consulted a few experts on the subject.

"I think this year is more glaring than most, for sure," said Entertainment Weekly senior writer Sara Vilkomerson. "Personally, I'm surprised there was not a lot of 'Potter' stuff; that was a very lucrative franchise for a lot of people and really critically acclaimed, the last movie. I feel like there was a definite lack of youth. I know in my house, when the 'Hunger Games' ad came on, it felt a little more exciting than certain parts of the telecast."

"The Academy obviously went out of their way to acknowledge the lack of youth appeal — but a handful of jokes in Billy Crystal's video montage and a little token Bieber isn't enough to fix it," added Brooke Tarnoff, senior editor for NextMovie.com. "It's a hard line to walk, enticing younger viewers but still voting with integrity. Maybe the answer is expanding Academy membership to more young actors who will be able to choose 'young people movies' with a clear conscience."

"I'm a house divided on the Oscars and the youth audience," said Shylah Addante, who runs "Hunger Games" fan site Down With the Capitol. "On one hand, as a card-carrying fangirl, I absolutely understand the outrage about last night's 'Potter' snub. For a franchise that has touched the hearts and minds, not to mention the wallets, of so many people around the world for a decade, the absence of Oscar gold left me feeling like the Academy was full of Dementors. On the other hand, the fiercely proud side of me wants a film to win an Oscar because it deserves it — not because it's a tentpole franchise or because it made one bajillion dollars worldwide. If 'Hugo' was any lesson to young Oscar viewers, it is that, in the right hands, a children's/young adult book can become a film worthy of major awards."

"It's a very, very hard line to teeter on. I have full sympathy for the people who are trying to organize it," Vilkomerson said. "It just shows how challenging it is to put on a really good Oscar telecast that makes everyone happy, that hits everything that everybody wants. It's a hard, hard show to put on. Maybe next year, 'The Hunger Games' will be nominated and that will be the easiest way to interlace these two worlds."

Addante agreed with next year's potential for "The Hunger Games." " 'Potter' and 'Twilight' may not have wooed the Academy, but 'Hunger Games,' with its decorated cast and crew, contemporary social and political messages and dramatic plot, may just have what it takes to finally give some critical legitimacy to young adult series and their fans."

Jennifer Lopez's Stylist Explains Oscars Wardrobe Malfunction

'There's no chance that there were any ... slips,' Mariel Haenn tells MTV News.

Jennifer Lopez is experienced when it comes to looking sexy at an awards show. Who could forget that low-cut, emerald-green Versace dress she wore to the Grammy Awards in 2000?

The actress/ singer/ "American Idol" judge recalled that infamous look on Sunday night when Lopez hit the stage as a presenter at the Oscars and left some fans and viewers wondering whether an unintended part of Lopez's anatomy had slipped out from her dress.

Well, her stylist, Mariel Haenn, tells MTV News in a statement that what you actually saw was a lot of nothing. "The Oscar dress was custom-made for Jennifer by designer Zuhair Murad. The dress fit perfectly to her every inch," Haenn explained. "There were cups built in and there's no chance that there were any how do you say? 'Slips.' While the dress did give the illusion of sheerness, jokes on everyone who wishes they saw something!"

The sparkling gown dazzled on the stage when Lopez stood alongside her "What to Expect When You're Expecting" co-star, the Gucci-clad Cameron Diaz; the two were presenting the Oscar for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup. Regardless of whether anything did end up slipping out, Haeenn promises that if you liked Sunday's costume design for Ms. Lopez, then stay tuned: She's got more sexiness up her sleeve. Haenn said, "If you thought that dress was hot wait until you see what's next."

The possible nip-slip moment was so hotly debated on Twitter by celebrities and fans that Lopez's body part even got its own Twitter account. And as you might imagine, the handle is not subtle, simply going by JLos Nipple. The Twitter account seems to have a sense of humor, with jokes like, "I have no regrets. ... I have been confined for years and have never been given a chance to be heard. #nipslips." Another tweet reads, "For people that don't have HD ... I understand why you aren't following me. For everyone else ... you're welcome."

But he's giving them an early treat by releasing his Usher duet, "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," on Monday (October 24).

The song dropped on Ryan Seacrest's radio show. Its vibe is reminiscent of '90s R&B tracks, and it sounds a lot like it could have been recorded by Boyz II Men, who also appear on the album. The Christmas classic is all about the little joys of the holiday season, including the family get-togethers, the food and Santa bringing presents to children. The song, one of the classics that appears on the album, hits iTunes on Monday. Bieber and Usher previously appeared together on "Somebody to Love" off My World 2.0. "Justin and I did the classic record 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.' This record is going to be remembered for years to come," Usher told Seacrest on Monday morning. "It's a record that has always been one of my favorites, and I'm happy that I was able to share it with Justin, and for us to put it out. The album is full of surprises. Watch The Full Series Premiere Of Awake!

After weeks of serious promotion the new NBC series Awake premiere this week. However you don?t have to wait until Thursday to check it out. Nope you can watch the entire premiere episode right here. You have seen the previews or promos if you will that say your mind will be blown away by Awake. I have to say I wasn?t so sure that was going to be true but then I watched premiere early and I have to say it is true. Yes my mind was blown away but not necessarily in the way one might think. The show is basically about two dreams and one reality and a man living in them all. I know it sounds a little out there but it is really good. I am going to full on admit that when I first heard about Awake I was like there is no way in heck I am going to like this show. I mean a guy living in two different worlds neither of which are reality, it sounded way to out there for me to handle. However I was so wrong. This show is different yes but it is also very suspenseful, intriguing and [...]

Rihanna to Star in Whitney Houston Biopic?

Rihanna to Star in Whitney Houston Biopic?

There will never be another Whitney Houston, but Hollywood is looking for a star to recreate her magic on the silver screen. According to British newspaper The People, a Houston biopic has been in the works for some time, and Rihanna is a front-runner to play the recently deceased singer.

"Whitney knew about the project and was excited to see where it would lead," an insider tells The People. "It's hoped the biopic will be as successful as the Tina Turner movie What's Love Got To Do With It, which landed two Oscar nominations for Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne, who played Tina and Ike Turner."

The project is reportedly being helmed by Clive Davis, the record producer who discovered Houston as a teenager and mentored her throughout her career. Other candidates he's reportedly considering to play Houston include Jennifer Hudson, 30, Jordin Sparks, 22, Brandy, 33, and Vivica Fox, 47. All of these women have some connection to the real-life Whitney; Hudson sang a memorable version of "I Will Always Love You" at the Grammy Awards tribute, Sparks costars with Houston in the upcoming film Sparkle, and Fox was a longtime friend. However, only Brandy, Houston's costar in the 1997 TV movie Cinderella, (and sister to Houston's rumored flame Ray J) has explicitly said she'd love to play the part.

"My dream role would be to play Whitney Houston," Brandy told TruExclusives before Houston passed away. "I have her personality down pat, her 'isms' down pat. Like no offense ladies -- it's a lot of talented ladies there -- but nobody can play Whitney like me."

As for Rihanna, she has already turned down the Whitney Houston role in a remake of The Bodyguard, saying, "I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else."

"I want to play a character," Rihanna told OK! magazine. "My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won't be a stretch for me."

Willow Smith, 11, is reportedly being considered to play Houston as a child.

Whitney Houston was found dead in her hotel bathtub on Jan. 11 at the age of 48. Though the cause of death is presumed to be prescription-drug-related, toxicology results are pending. Is it too soon for a movie about her life? Perhaps. But it could also be a lovely way to honor Whitney by remembering the best parts of her life, instead of her tragic death.

'In Memoriam' montage also pays tribute to Steve Jobs, Sidney Lumet, Jane Russell and more fallen stars.

Billy Crystal introduced this year's "In Memoriam" montage with personal, heartfelt words about two Academy Awards producers who passed away in 2011, one of whom was Laura Ziskin, who produced on films like "Spider-Man" and "As Good as It Gets."

Esperanza Spalding, backed by the Southern California Children's Choir, sang a restrained and powerful version of "What a Wonderful World" as the clips played. The audience was asked to hold their applause until after the montage concluded, which they respectfully abided by. This prevented the morbid "applause-meter" phenomenon of years past, which seemed to unwittingly measure one fallen industry person's popularity against another.

The montage included a number of producers, costume designers, sound technicians and other departed industry folks, in addition to writers, directors and film stars. Among those honored were Whitney Houston and Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who was awarded a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy Special Merit Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles earlier this month.

The montage also included Jane Russell (who died shortly after last year's Academy Awards), Farley Granger (who starred in two Alfred Hitchcock films, including "Strangers on a Train"), Hal Kanter, Jackie Cooper (the former child actor who also famously played newspaper boss to Christopher's Reeve's "Superman"), Sidney Lumet (director of classic movies like "Serpico," "Network" and "Twelve Angry Men") and Oscar winner Cliff Robertson (best known to modern audiences as Spider-Man's Uncle Ben).

The "In Memoriam" at the 84th annual Academy Awards closed with a clip of Elizabeth Taylor as "Cleopatra."

'The Artist' Star Jean Dujardin Nabs Best Actor Oscar

The French actor bests George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman and Demian Bichir in the hotly contested race.
By Ryan J. Downey

For several weeks, conventional wisdom foretold that the Best Actor contest would come down to George Clooney ("The Descendants") and Jean Dujardin ("The Artist"), and Sunday night (February 26), the suspense was finally lifted.

And the Oscar went to: Jean Dujardin.

Dujardin bested a field that included Clooney's pal Brad Pitt ("Moneyball"), veteran actor/ first time nominee Gary Oldman ("Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") and Mexican-born Demian Bichir ("A Better Life"). "The Artist" also took home awards in two other major categories, Best Director and Best Picture.

Many viewers snickered when the Oscars announcer teased a commercial break by saying, "With no clear favorite, anyone could win" leading into the bigger awards. Several of the winners at the 84th Annual Academy Awards were long thought to be foregone conclusions, but Best Actor was one of the more hotly contested, as both Clooney and Dujardin racked up several awards at ceremonies leading up to Sunday.

The 39-year-old French actor and comedian spent this awards season accumulating victories at the AACTA, BAFTA, Cannes, the Golden Globes, Hollywood Film Festival, Independent Spirit Awards and several critical associations.

"Key to the success of 'The Artist' is the work of its two French stars," wrote the Los Angeles Times' Kenneth Turan. "Dujardin and [Bérénice] Bejo, bursting off the screen like irrepressible Roman candles, give performances that are both subtle and incandescent, reminding us of the truth of silent star Norma Desmond's famous 'Sunset Blvd.' line, 'We didn't need dialogue. We had faces.' "

Awards for "The Descendants" are undoubtedly crowding Clooney's mantlepiece. The 50-year-old actor's portrayal of conflicted father Matt King earned him trophies at the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards, the Golden Globes and the Hollywood Film Festival, among others. He won his first Oscar in 2005 for "Syrianna."

On the red carpet before the show, Clooney told MTV News he'd like to see the award go to his thrice-nominated pal.

"Let's give it to Brad. I love him."

Justin Bieber spent the day before Valentine's Day with a special girl. No, he wasn't with his lady love, Selena Gomez — instead he visited Monday with a 6-year-old Belieber, Avalanna Routh, who is suffering from an aggressive form of cancer. In a photo posted to his Twitter account, Bieber is seen hanging out with the young fan, dubbed "Mrs. Bieber." Chris Brown Accused of Stealing Fan's iPhone

Chris Brown Accused of Stealing Fan's iPhone

Hey, have you heard that Chris Brown maybe has some anger issues? The singer has once again showed his penchant for violent overreactions, allegedly yelling at a fan and stealing her iPhone after she dared to (gasp!) take a picture of him.

According to the police report filed by alleged victim Christal Shanae Spann, Brown was exiting the Cameo nightclub in Miami Beach on Sunday night when Spann followed him to his car. She took out her iPhone and snapped a picture of him sitting in his Bentley. (Not smoking a joint, not making out with a woman -- just sitting there.) Then, says Spann, Brown got angry, reached through the car window and grabbed the phone out of her hand.

"Bitch, you ain't going to put that on no website," Brown told Spann, according to the police report. He then rolled up his window and drove away, $500 phone in hand.

E! News reports that a warrant is being prepared for Brown's arrest, on suspicion of "robbery by sudden snatching."

The "Forever" singer is still on supervised probation after pleading guilty to assaulting Rihanna in 2009, so if he's found guilty of robbery, he could actually be headed to jail for probation violation. Honestly, given his easily triggered temper -- see last year's GMA incident, or his expletive-laden Twitter rants -- we're surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

J.J. Abrams 'Very Upset' Over 'Star Trek 2' Leaked Photos

'It's such a bummer,' Zoe Saldana tells MTV News about pictures showing her, Benedict Cumberbatch and Zachary Quinto on set.
By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Details have been scarce about the ongoing production of "Star Trek 2," but all that changed Friday when some juicy set pictures were leaked online. The two images show Zachary Quinto and then Zoe Saldana facing off against Benedict Cumberbatch, the new villain in the film. Though they weren't particularly spoilers, the pics did give plenty of fodder for fans speculating about Cumberbatch's role.

Needless to say, notoriously secretive director J.J. Abrams was none too pleased about the leak. MTV News caught up with Saldana at the Independent Spirit Awards, where she talked about the director's reaction.

"J.J. was very upset," she said. "I have to say that. It's not going to stop people from intruding, but they are, and it's such a bummer because it only hurts them by stealing away the surprise."

That's the same sort of sentiment actors on the set of films like "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises" have echoed as the Internet-savvy fan culture becomes increasingly intrusive. Several questions were raised from the images, such as why Cumberbatch is wearing a variation of the Star Fleet uniform and why Quinto's Vulcan death grip fails when he uses it on the "Sherlock" star's character.

There's been a lot of excitement surrounding Cumberbatch's inclusion in the cast, though little is known about his role. Saldana wouldn't give away any details about his character, but she did say what she thinks he's adding to the film: "Another yummy male actor in 'Star Trek' — that's what he's adding, and I'm enjoying it," she said with a laugh.

"Star Trek 2" also stars Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, John Cho and Alice Eve. It's due in theaters May 17, 2013.

Check out everything we've got on "Star Trek 2."
