Elizabeth Hurley Turns Evil for "Wonder Woman"

Elizabeth Hurley Turns Evil for "Wonder Woman"

Elizabeth Hurley once helped Austin Powers defeat Dr. Evil -- but it was only a matter of time before she turned to the dark side. Hurley, 45, announced over Twitter that she'll be playing "the evil villain" in the upcoming Wonder Woman TV series. The supermodel has been tentatively cast as Veronica Cale, a scientist and businesswoman with sinister ulterior motives. Hurley will be pitted against Friday Night Lights' Adrianne Palicki, 27, who will be playing superhero Wonder Woman and her two alter egos (ordinary lady Diana Prince and business mogul Diana Themyscira).

Wonder Woman is a reboot of the popular '70s series The Adventures of Wonder Woman, which starred Lynda Carter in the title role. Carter, 59, has been tight-lipped about whether she'll appear on the new series, but has said she approves of Palicki taking over the role.

"She's an actress and she's a good actress and she's beautiful, and I hope she kicks butt," says the original Amazon of her successor.

The new show is being produced by David E. Kelley, the creator of The Practice, Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope, Boston Legal, Boston Public and the new NBC series Harry's Law.

We're pleased that primetime will be getting a hefty dose of girl power. Now all we want to know is: Will they re-use that catchy '70s theme song?
