Michael Schur says Lowe is under contract with 'Parks and Recreation' and will not take Sheen's role on 'Two and a Half Men.'

Rest easy, fans of Chris Traeger, the ever-so-energetic and cheerful character played by Rob Lowe on "Parks and Recreation." He's not leaving his pals in Pawnee anytime soon.
On Wednesday, recently axed actor Charlie Sheen, continuing his media juggernaut, told Dan Patrick in a radio interview that he'd prefer for Lowe to take over his role on "Two and a Half Men." "He's a buddy of mine, he's a beautiful man, a brilliant actor, and I hope he does it and kicks its ass because I still get [paid]," he said.
After Sheen made his statement, worried "Parks and Rec" fans wondered if Lowe, who, along with Adam Scott, joined the NBC comedy at the end of last season, would actually take the role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, during a panel at the 28th Annual PaleyFest on Wednesday night, the show's executive producer Michael Schur assured that Lowe is under a "multiyear contract" with the series.
When asked by panel moderator Michael Ausiello if it would be difficult having Lowe juggle his time on both "Parks and Recreation" and "Two and a Half Men," Schur quipped, "It's going to be hard."
He went on to say that there was "no truth" to the rumors of Lowe's departure and that "The Internet lit a match and set itself on fire." While Lowe wasn't present at the PaleyFest panel, it's not because he was off practicing lines to play womanizer Charlie Harper. Rather, as Schur explained, he was off "looking at colleges with [his children]."
Schur then joked that Lowe, who departed ABC's drama "Brothers and Sisters" in 2010, would instead be replacing Scott Caan on CBS' "Hawaii Five-O."
