Howard Stern as 'America's Got Talent' Judge?

Howard Stern as 'America's Got Talent' Judge?

If all goes according to plan, Howard Stern could soon be as much a presence on television as he is on satellite radio. The racy but beloved shock jock is in negotiations to replace the departing Piers Morgan as a judge on NBC's America's Got Talent, The Wrap has confirmed.

Should Stern, 57, and NBC seal the deal -- which is said to be hovering in the $15-million-a-year range -- Stern would join Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel on the juding panel of the popular reality program.

Morgan's workload increased significantly in January when he began hosting CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, which replaced Larry King Live in the news network's lineup. On Wednesday, Morgan announced via Twitter that it is because of his obligations to CNN that he's departing America's Got Talent.

"I'm leaving 'America's Got Talent' after 6 wonderful years," Morgan, 46, wrote. "Turned out that juggling's harder than it looks, so I'm going to focus on CNN."

As for Stern, this isn't the first time he's been eyed to replace an outgoing judge on a reality competition show. In February 2010, he was reportedly one of the candidates under consideration to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol -- but FOX ultimately went with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler instead.

If NBC does hire Stern, this would mark the irreverent radio personality's first regular TV gig since E!'s The Howard Stern Show went off the air in 2001. Welcome back (we hope), Howard!
