Things have not been stable in the house of Charlie Sheen of late, what with his firing from Two and a Half Men, his up-and-down live tour and his soon-to-be-ex-wife Brooke Mueller re-entering rehab -- not to mention his on-off war against Mueller for custody of their 2-year-old twins, Bob and Max.
In a surprising twist, Sheen's other ex-wife, Denise Richards, recently offered to take informal custody of the twins until Sheen's situation stabilizes. Less shockingly, Sheen declined the offer. In an interview on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live Thursday night, Richards, 40, tells her side of the story -- and reveals how the whole Sheen saga has affected her and her kids.
"I offered (to help). I wasn't asking for custody or anything like that," she insists. "I put it out several times over the last couple of years that if they need help, I'm here. I would love the boys to stay and be with the girls." Watch the interview below.
"It's very sad to see (Charlie) on this path," she says. "(This) is his lifestyle, and I've accepted it... There's things that I don't think are the most appropriate for two young, impressionable daughters." Richards has said that she is open with her own kids, Sam, 7, and Lola, 5, about Sheen's struggles with addiction, but that she does worry about subjecting her kids to that crazy environment.
Of her relationship with Sheen at the moment, Richards admits, "We're not in the best place right now, to be honest with you. But I do still communicate with him."
Let's hope Sheen listens to what she has to say. Richards seems to be the only clear-headed person in this entire scenario!
