From Lord Voldermort to a Nazi officer, the 'Wrath of the Titans' star chooses the baddest of his bad guys.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Few actors have been known for playing the bad guy quite like Ralph Fiennes. His career has introduced him to all different sorts of evil characters, from a Nazi officer, to the darkest wizard of our time, and most recently in "Wrath of the Titans," Hades, the lord of the Underworld.
With such a long list of villainous evil-doers to his name, could there be a most evil Ralph Fiennes character?
Even the man himself couldn't say for certain when MTV News spoke with him. "If they're fantasy figures, I don't know how evil they are, but I guess somewhere between Amon Goeth [in 'Schindler's List'] and Francis Dolarhyde in 'Red Dragon' would be really evil," he said.
But after playing the worst characters some fictional worlds have to offer, Fiennes said that his latest character could signal a new trend toward mortality.
His most recent villain, Hades, turns out to be not much of one in "Wrath of the Titans." "Hades is full of resentment, and I guess he's pretty destructive initially," Fiennes said. "I like it in this film, he has a change of heart and joins forces with the brother he started off hating. So that was a bit more for me to play."
For his next role, in the upcoming James Bond film "Skyfall," no details have been officially shared about his character. But Fiennes did hint that it may be different from the villains he played in the past: "I don't think that qualifies as a villain. I think that my villain days are coming to an end, I think."
Who do you think is Ralph Fiennes' most evil character? Sound off in the comments section!

With the release of her new single "Dance Again," Jennifer Lopez is showing her American Idol contestants how it's done! The Idol judge and pop star premiered her latest song this morning on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.
Like Lopez's hit "On the Floor," the new track is produced by RedOne and features J.Lo's pal, rapper Pitbull.
Lopez, 42, explained to her Idol colleague on his KIIS-FM show that she especially enjoyed reuniting with the "On the Floor" crew, and that she's incredibly proud of the song.
"First of all, I love it," Lopez said. "We had a great chemistry the last time, and it was like, 'We're going to have to do something again.' And this was the perfect song. I love the message of the song -- that when something bad happens, your life is not over. You have to get up. You're gonna live. You're gonna be OK. You're gonna dance again."
And the singer-actress (who's currently dating dancer Casper Smart) knows firsthand what it's like to get out there and "dance again" -- a message that could easily symbolize her life since she and ex-husband Marc Anthony split.
"I think when it came to me, it was the perfect moment," she said. "I definitely related to that. I think it's a good thing to put it out there right now, because everybody goes through tough moments. Everybody goes through hard times, and I am no stranger to that myself...Actually, we rewrote some of the lyrics to fit into that message."
But which lyrics does she mean? She's not telling!
"You listen and you decide!" she laughed. So check out the song and figure it out.

'Hopefully, he contains a few more dimensions than just 'Prince Charming,' ' actor tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner
If you've seen the action-packed trailer for "Mirror Mirror" — one of two Snow White-themed movies coming out this year — you're aware that the visually appealing, Tarsem-directed, family-friendly film is a new spin on the classic tale.
When the flick hits theaters Friday, audiences will see a feisty, independent young princess played by Lily Collins, Oscar-winner Julia Roberts showing off a rarely seen evil side and, of course, a handsome Prince Charming played by Armie Hammer. But don't think for a minute that you'll be seeing a stereotypical prince. MTV News recently caught up with the "Social Network" star to discuss the character's atypical traits.
"He's not drawn on the page, which is one of the first things that makes him slightly different," Hammer joked about the character's animated inspirations. "He's a little bit more of a man-child and a little bit more of a kid trying to find his place in the world as a prince, [wondering] why is he a prince and stuff like that. Hopefully, he contains a few more dimensions than just 'Prince Charming.' "
Multi-dimensional or not, there is a certain dreamboat factor required of the actor playing him, which Hammer was happy to joke about when we asked him just how dreamy the character would be. "How dreamy is he? Dreeea-my," Hammer promised us in May 2011. "Let's just say, they're going to have to change the rating," he joked, before getting serious to talk about the reason he signed onto the project: director Tarsem Singh.
"[Tarsem] is one of the reasons I signed on to do this," Hammer revealed. "The idea of playing Prince Charming wasn't really exciting — it kind of sounds more nerdy than anything else — but then they're like, 'Tarsem's doing it,' and I'm like, 'Done. You want me to play a trash can? I'll do it to be in this movie.' " Hammer added that he's a big admirer of Tarsem's work, and joked that he'd be taking plenty of notes during filming.

'Bless you, Celine, but it does rather haunt me,' the actress admits to MTV News of 'My Heart Will Go On.'
By Fallon Prinzivalli
"Like throwing up." That's how Kate Winslet feels when she hears Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," the once-inescapable theme to "Titanic."
"No, I shouldn't say that," Winslet added, thinking through her response before coming to this conclusion: "No, actually, I do feel like throwing up."
Since its release in 1997, the film has stuck with Winslet wherever she goes. It was the movie that helped her sky-rocket to the A-list, after all, and no one is likely to forget Dion's iconic song from "Titanic," set to be re-released in 3-D on April 4.
"I wish I could say, 'Oh listen, everybody! It's the Celine Dion song!' But I don't," Winslet admitted. "I just have to sit there, you know, kind of straight-faced with a massive internal eye roll."
Winslet went on to explain that every time she walks into a bar or a restaurant with a pianist, they never miss an opportunity to start playing the notes. "It's thrilling for people to surprise me with the Celine Dion song," she laughed.
But they not only play the tune for her, they also encourage the Oscar winner to sing it herself. "I did a talk show recently in Italy and they actually had a live pianist who started gently playing the theme song. I was not even gently, rather severely, urged to go and sing it as though I had in fact sung it myself in the first place. It was like, 'No! I'm not going to do that.' They're like, 'Oh no, come on it will be funny.' No, it won't be funny. At all. And I'm not going to."
Unfortunately for the actress, it's not just the theme song that haunts her. Whenever she boards a boat, she's the butt of jokes.
"Honestly, I actually now get onto boats and say, 'No jokes, OK? No jokes. Can we just move on from that? And if you have any jokes, let's just get them out of the way right now. Thank you. Anyone? Jokes, jokes? OK, moving on.' And then they still tell jokes," Winslet said. The most common joke is asking her to head to the front of the boat with them to reenact the iconic scene between hers and Leonardo DiCaprio's characters on the rail. To that she replies, "Oh, yeah! Oh, that one! Oh, don't worry, it's my party piece. Sure, come on up, bring your granny."
But Winslet is actually an amazing sport about the jokes. She understands how deeply the film touched its audience. And now that it will be on the big screen again, it can reach a whole new generation — including her children who will see it for the very first time.
"What's negative about it? Really, nothing at all," she said of the 3-D treatment. "It's very different and much more present. It's bigger — if you can believe that — but it is and you really do feel like you're in it."
Audiences will be able to relive the tragic love story — or experience for the first time — when "Titanic" it hits theaters in 3-D on April 4.

Fan groups respond to one critic's suggestion that Lawrence's 'womanly figure makes a bad fit' for Katniss.

Jennifer Lawrence in "The Hunger Games"

Fans flooded in droves into movie theaters this weekend to see "The Hunger Games." In the wake of the highly anticipated release, much of the criticism surrounding the movie has been not about the young stars' performances, but their appearances.
Most recently there has been criticism of Jennifer Lawrence's weight, with some sighting that as Katniss, a girl who grew up in a famine-stricken district of a dystopian society, she should have been thinner.
New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis wrote, "A few years ago Ms. Lawrence might have looked hungry enough to play Katniss, but now, at 21, her seductive, womanly figure makes a bad fit for a dystopian fantasy about a people starved into submission."
The statement is receiving much backlash, considering Lawrence is now a certified movie star that countless young women look up to. Putting aside the negative body-image issues the comment suggests, one wonders whether Dargis is accurate in her assessment of the actress/character disparity? MTV News asked expert "Hunger Games" fans to weigh in. Most had the same message: They loved what Lawrence brought to her character and that the scrutiny is misguided.
"Katniss may not have been as thin or small in stature as depicted in the book, but it's not unfathomable that her hunting prowess would have allowed her to have some meat on her bones," TheHob.org's Gabby Vittoria responded. She went on to point out that "Peeta wasn't tall in the movie; Clove wasn't big and brawny; Katniss wasn't smaller than most of the Tributes. These physical changes certainly didn't take away from the story and messages in the movie. Besides, for me, Jennifer's acting and the quality of the film makes her weight a non-issue."
Many fans not only disagreed with the film critic but were affronted by these reviews of Lawrence. "I'm offended by this critique on so many levels, and honestly, I was shocked that it was ever an issue and that a professional critic would bring it up in the film's review," Sara Gundell from the Hunger Games Examiner fan site stated.
This backlash about Lawrence's weight comes in the wake of the questioning of Rue's race in the film. The pre-teen is played by Amandla Stenberg, who is African American. In recent days her casting was the subject of racially fueled criticism by a handful of moviegoers who have suffered their own backlash.
What do you think of the criticism of Jennifer Lawrence's weight? Sound off in the comments below!

Judge tells troubled actress, 'stop nightclubbing and focus on your work.'

Lindsay Lohan
Photo: WireImage
Lindsay Lohan got some good news on Thursday when she appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court and a judge formally ended her lengthy supervised probation from two 2007 DUI arrests. Wearing a powder blue pants suit, the troubled actress earned praise for completing her court-mandated counseling sessions and 480 hours of community service.
According to the Los Angeles Times, at the final probation status check in for Lohan in connection with a shoplifting conviction and probation violations from the 2007 arrests, Judge Stephanie Sautner said Lohan had finished her obligations for counseling and community service in "short of a year and she has done everything this court asked her to do."
The actress completed the final counseling sessions and community service work at the Los Angeles County morgue earlier this week. Sautner then announced that the five years of probation for the DUI case were officially over and that she was putting Lohan on unsupervised probation for the shoplifting incident until May 2014.
"The only terms for you are for you to obey all laws," Sautner said.
"You don't need to come to court anymore." In addition to countless court appearances, Lohan has been jailed several times for violations stemming from drug use to failing to do her required community service.
Clearly pleased, Lohan, 25, told the judge, "I just wanted to thank you for being fair. What you've done has really opened a lot of doors for me."
Lohan has been working on getting her career back on track, recently appearing in an episode of "Saturday Night Live", booking a "Glee" gig and signing up to play Elizabeth Taylor in a TV movie.
But, before the hearing ended, Sautner had one more piece of advice for Lohan. "Stop nightclubbing and focus on your work," she counseled.

Slaughterhouse on the set of "Hammer Dance"

AUSTIN, Texas — Slaughterhouse passed through Austin, Texas, to perform at the Shady 2.0 Showcase during South by Southwest earlier this month, and while they were in town, the boys — Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9'', Crooked I and Joell Ortiz — slotted some time to film the video for their latest single, "Hammer Dance."
MTV News caught up with the four rappers on set, where they explained the video's concept and gave an update on their upcoming album, Welcome to: Our House.
"I think it's just a day in the life of Slaughterhouse, a lot of energy," Crooked I told MTV News. "We're gonna give fans a chance to shine, and I think when it's done, you'll see how authentic it is. When we roll into town, we jell with people, no matter where they are, who they are, what part of the world they're from. We're just average dudes trying to do extraordinary things."
"Hammer Dance" is the latest single from the group's sophomore album, which is expected to debut this summer. Slaughterhouse wouldn't give a specific release date just yet, but they did reveal that their Shady Records boss, Eminem, is in the final stages of mixing.
"[We're] still working out minor tweaks, [but] it's way more done than people know," Royce said. "Marshall is actually mixing right now. He's actually mixed the entire album, and that wasn't even the original plan, so we're super excited about that. He's just taking songs to another level."
Eminem is known for his hands-off approach with artists, but the Detroit native was very much involved in the creation of Welcome to: Our House, as the group explained. "Real talk: A lot of people don't give Eminem enough credit for his production and his arrangement and his mixing," Crooked I said. "What he's doing to add to the album is phenomenal, and I think he deserves props and a salute for that."
"He's turning it into a movie," Royce concluded. "It's becoming way more visual, when he comes and puts his stamp on it, if you will."

Look out, Madonna! Piers Morgan is at it again. For a few years now, the talk show host's been publicly disparaging the Material Girl, even banning her from his show, Piers Morgan Tonight (weeknights at 9 p.m. ET on CNN).
"That Super Bowl performance!" he said on E!'s Chelsea Lately. "It was like watching your mad drunken aunt at Christmas! She was gruesome. I don't like the woman, and she doesn't like me."
For her part, Madonna hasn't offered much of a response to comments such as these (which have been plentiful), except for this cutting remark from her publicist in 2010: "Madonna doesn't know who Piers Morgan is."
But Madonna inadvertently reached out to Morgan on Monday, when she sent out a mass tweet announcing a Twitter Q&A with fans to promote her new album, MDNA. Morgan jumped on the message, baiting her with the tweet: "Welcome to Twitter @MadonnaMDNAday - you're still banned from my show. Love Piers x."
If only the Madonna camp had left the bait alone! But Morgan's antagonism must have finally gotten the best of Madge's manager, Guy Oseary. He immediately tweeted, "Really?" and attached a copy of an invitation from Morgan's UK show, asking Madonna to perform. It reads, in part: "Piers Morgan is delighted to invite Madonna to be a special guest for his L.A. recording of his U.K. chat show - where she would be welcome to promote her new film and forthcoming album release (and perform two numbers)."
Someone else might find this embarrassing, but Morgan was obviously thrilled to re-ignite the feud he'd started years ago. He tweeted in reply: "Madonna's only been banned from my #CNN show @guyoseary - not my UK show, which sent that invite. But I'm now banning her from that too."
On the surface, Morgan's hatred for Madonna is a bit perplexing. She obviously cares little about what he thinks of her. So why does he continue to stoke the fire?
The answer probably lies in Morgan's history as a British tabloid editor, helming the News of the World and the Daily Mirror. Madonna is the sort of celeb who keeps these rags afloat, as they report on her every move. And apparently, she didn't make life easy for them. In CNN's "Your Question Time" web series, Morgan once answered a viewer question about the bad blood between himself and Madonna.
He describes his history with her publicist, who once told him "'listen to me, read my lips, Madonna is not pregnant,' and the next day she announced her pregnancy to a rival newspaper."
In 2011, Piers also gave Access Hollywood an explanation about the feud, albeit a vague one. "There was a bread roll throwing incident in London in the mid '90s; there was an incident at a hotel in the south of France at the Cannes Film Festival involving a photographer and a bodyguard," Morgan explained. "And there's been an incident involving a pub owned by her recently departed husband, Guy Ritchie, where my brother was the manager."
So, Madonna's publicist passed on Piers for a scoop and there was a "bread roll throwing incident." Sounds like somebody is nursing a grudge. But is it worth it?
We're thinking, no! All of this mudslinging isn't doing anything for him. It's certainly not propelling his career and it just makes him look petty, whiny and bitter. It's time to move on, Piers!

'Guys are like, 'I don't know what it is, but you're really hot,' comedian Stevie Ryan says of playing the teen superstar on VH1 show.
By Christina Garibaldi
<P>Stevie Ryan may make fun of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> on her new VH1 show <a href="http://www.vh1.com/shows/stevie_tv/series.jhtml" target="_blank">"Stevie TV,"</a> but the actress and the pop star actually have something cool in common: They were both discovered on YouTube. </P><P> </P><P>Ryan began her career impersonating celebrities and creating her own characters on her YouTube <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/stevieryan" target="_blank">channel</a> and instantly became an Internet star. Now the 26-year-old comedian gets to do her routines on VH1, portraying some of today's biggest celebs and reality TV stars. </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:752244/cp~vid%3D752244%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A752244" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>"It's just a female's perspective on pop culture, really, at least that's the way I think about it," Ryan told MTV News on Tuesday. "It's really just kind of making fun of pop culture, what's happening in it, just making fun of these celebrities that are rewarded for bad behavior." </P><P> </P><P>So far on "Stevie TV," Ryan has created a music video that mocks <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a>'s "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)," gotten into character as <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> and done some cross-dressing to get into one of her favorite roles, Justin Bieber. </P><P> </P><P>Ryan explained that Bieber has been the most fun to play "because I always tell everybody how guys and girls always like me when I'm Justin Bieber. ... Girls are like, 'You're so cute, like, are you really a <i>girl</i>?' And then guys are like, 'I don't know what it is, but you're really hot.' But I really like playing everybody," she laughed. </P><P> </P><P>And though she may poke fun at celebrities, Ryan said she's really a fan of most of the stars ... except maybe one. </P><P> </P><P>"I just thought, 'What a great way to kind of show that this is what the younger generation is growing up with, that who little girls like, is Kim Kardashian,' " Ryan said. "It's just observing these weird behaviors and finding a place for them that makes sense because you can always make fun of Kim Kardashian — she has a big butt, she made a sex tape — but at the same time you have to step back and look at the big picture; people are actually wanting to be like this." </P><P> </P><P>As for future episodes, Ryan really wants to impersonate a certain Young Money rapper. "I would like to do <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj,"</a> Ryan revealed. "There's nothing that I want to make fun of about her, because I'm obsessed with her and I really, really love her." </P><P> </P><P>Asked if she's gotten any backlash yet for the sometimes harsh jokes on her show, Ryan said she hasn't, but she's ready if it comes her way. </P><P> </P><P>"It hasn't happened before and I'd give a flying f--- about what any of them have to say," Ryan said. "Because I'm just doing my job just like they are and so whatever, if anyone has anything to say, bring it!" </P><P> </P><P><a href="http://www.vh1.com/shows/stevie_tv/series.jhtml" target="_blank">"Stevie TV"</a> airs Sundays at 11 p.m. ET on VH1. </P><P> </P><P><i>What do you think of "Stevie TV"? Biebs introduces his artist's performance and offers a preview of his single 'Boyfriend.'

The young heartthrob took the opportunity to introduce Jepsen, whom he recently signed to his Schoolboy Records label. He had been making a public Twitter bid to Ellen to have his new artist appear on her daytime show. </P><P> </P><P><object name="kaltura_player_1332533343" id="kaltura_player_1332533343" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" allowNetworking="all" allowFullScreen="true" height="283" width="430" data="http://cdnapi.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/wid/1_empy1jxw/uiconf_id/6995152"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowNetworking" value="all" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><param name="movie" value="http://cdnapi.kaltura.com/index.php/kwidget/wid/1_empy1jxw/uiconf_id/6995152"/><param name="flashVars" value=""/><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com">video platform</a><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/video_platform/video_management">video management</a><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/solutions/video_solution">video solutions</a><a href="http://corp.kaltura.com/video_platform/video_publishing">video player</a></object> </P><P> </P><P>Jepsen, who calls her style "folky pop," took to the stage in a long, bohemian dress. "I had never branched outside of Canada, and I didn't know how to do that, and then one miraculous day, Justin called," Jepsen told Ellen. "It seemed too good to be true." There is also talk of a possible <a href="/news/articles/1681004/justin-bieber-carly-rae-jepsen-collaboration.jhtml">collaboration with Bieber</a>. </P><P> </P><P>Bieber is taking his new A&R role very seriously, promoting Jepsen in any way possible, including dropping a video spoof of "Call Me Maybe" featuring famous friends Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Carlos Pena Jr. of Big Time Rush. </P><P> </P><P><i>Did you like Carly Rae Jepsen's performance on "Ellen"? Weinstein Co. is releasing the documentary on bullying unrated in a protest against an R.
By Gil Kaufman
Actors, singers, politicians, educators and high school kids have been protesting the R rating given to the anti-bullying documentary "Bully," but the ratings board would not budge. So, instead of folding, frequently outspoken Weinstein Co. co-founder Harvey Weinstein has decided to release the film unrated.
"The small amount of language in the film that's responsible for the R rating is there because it's real," director Lee Hirsch said of the multiple f-bombs that landed the film its restricted rating, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "It's what the children who are victims of bullying face on most days. All of our supporters see that, and we're grateful for the support we've received across the board. I know the kids will come, so it's up to the theaters to let them in."
The film depicts the painful results of school bullying and follows several families who've been impacted by bullying. But because it was given an R rating, it cannot be screened in middle and high schools.
Weinstein began a public appeal of the rating last month, making the case that it would freeze out the very teens and others under 18 who most need to hear its powerful message.
The rating war inspired 17-year-old Katy Butler to start a viral petition to get the decision changed. Not only did her movement win her a GLAAD Media Award over the weekend, but it also drew nearly 500,000 signatures and support from the likes of Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Johnny Depp and Ellen DeGeneres.
Though unrated films are often shut out of many theater chains out of respect for the ratings board, the CEO of the AMC chain, Gerry Lopez, said he will allow certain theaters in his circuit to screen the movie. "Bully" opens on March 30 in New York and Los Angeles. The movie has gotten another unlikely partner in the form of computing giant Microsoft. According to the Los Angeles Times, Microsoft has agreed to use its Bing search engine to promote "Bully" with a TV and social media ad campaign.

After Demi Moore caught wind that her estranged husband Ashton Kutcher has been seeing Rihanna, she's reportedly been going crazy to find out more about the relationship, all the while feeling "sick to her stomach" over it.
A friend of the actress told Grazia magazine, "Demi is constantly keeping tabs on Ashton so when these pictures came up she was understandably devastated. Demi's convinced something happened between them and said she felt "sick to her stomach".
Demi was released from rehab just last month, leaving her friends concerned for her well-being saying. "Demi is in such a fragile state, even the idea of them together has affected her quite badly. She's in a terrible way but, at the end of the day, Ashton is a single man and free to do whatever he likes."
Another source told Closer magazine, "Demi can't believe Ashton would do this. She's really hurt by the rumors and feels humiliated he's being linked to other celebrities just a few weeks after she got out of rehab."
News that RiRi and Kutcher have been seeing each other for eight weeks broke after the "We Found Love" singer was spotted pulling into Kutcher's driveway and supposedly not leaving until around 4 am.
Although Rihanna and Ashton have not addressed the relationship rumors, "Demi's been acting crazy ever since, trying to find out information about the pair."

'He's an incredible, incredible writer and amazing vocalist,' producer Mike Posner tells MTV News about Bieber's new single.
By Jocelyn Vena
<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> dropped his <a href="/news/articles/1681748/justin-bieber-boyfriend.jhtml">bumping new single "Boyfriend"</a> on Monday (March 26), teasing his next album, <a href="/news/articles/1681595/justin-bieber-boyfriend.jhtml"><i>Believe.</i></a> It's a grinding, midtempo song that hears Bieber proclaiming all the ways he can make a girl happy (swag and fondue included!). </P><P> </P><P>Co-produced and co-written by "Cooler Than Me" singer Mike Posner, the song shows growth from Bieber's "Baby" days. When MTV News caught up with Posner last week, he told us what it was like to hit the studio with Bieber (and co-producer and co-writer Mason Levy) for the track. </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:752329/cp~vid%3D752329%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A752329" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>"I've known [Bieber's manager] Scooter [Braun] for a few years, so I actually ran into Scooter at a Clippers game and told him I would love to work with Justin," Posner said. "I got the opportunity to write with Justin. I didn't really know what to expect at first, but he's an incredible, incredible writer and amazing vocalist. </P><P> </P><P>"Because I'm an artist myself, I can be pretty selective on who I produce for and who I make beats for ... and really what I'm looking for is an amazing vocalist, somebody that can sing better than I can," he continued. "And the other thing is somebody that's willing to not try to make something that succeeds within the matrix of what pop music is now, but makes something that moves that matrix to where it is, and Justin was willing to take that leap with me." </P><P> </P><P>Bieber spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show hours after the song's world premiere Monday, explaining why this was the perfect track to kick off the <i>Believe</i> era. </P><P> </P><P>"It was a really hard choice. I mean, we had so many songs, so many uptempos we could release, [that] I thought, 'Let's slow it down,' " he said, adding that there are already plenty of fast songs all over the radio. "It's just something a little bit more mature, but it's also something I think I'm ready for." </P><P> </P><P>While fans and industry insiders had been wondering what a more grown-up Bieber would sound like, he said he tried to block out all the noise when making the track. "There's so many people that are going to give me opinions, but I'm the only one who can ultimately make those decisions, because I'm going to have to live with my career for the rest of my life. So I thought this was the perfect single," he said, adding that this song "was me all the way; it is a representation of me." </P><P> </P><P>And Bieber said "Boyfriend" perfectly sets up what's coming next. "It's kind of classic," he said of the album. "The songs, I feel, won't get old. The music is very fresh, but it's also — I'm taking a lot from old-school music, a lot of Michael Jackson, a lot of old R&B, a lot of old pop. It's pretty special." </P><P> </P><P><i>What do you think of "Boyfriend"? Share your reviews in the comments below!</i></p>
