Whitney Houston Cause of Death: Accidental Drowning

Whitney Houston Cause of Death: Accidental Drowning

Whitney Houston's family finally has some closure: A report released Thursday by the Los Angeles County Department of the Coroner lists the official cause of the singer's death as drowning -- although it states that the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use" were also factors.

According a press statement released with the report, "no trauma or foul play is expected," and Houston's Feb. 11 death has been ruled accidental.

Sadly, cocaine and other drugs, including marijuana and prescription medications, were found in Houston's system -- but the report states that these did not contribute to her death. Instead, the six-time Grammy winner passed away when she was sumberged in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel Room.

Houston, who was 48 at the time of her death and had battled addiction for years, was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J., on Feb. 19 -- one day after a star-studded memorial.

The final coroner's report is expected to be released in two weeks.
