Liam Neeson Replaces Mel Gibson in 'Hangover 2'

Liam Neeson Replaces Mel Gibson in 'Hangover 2'

What's the best cure for The Hangover 2's Mel Gibson problem? How about a shot of Liam Neeson? After being axed from the comedy sequel, Gibson's role has been recast and Neeson will now be playing the bit part.

"I just got a call to do a one-day shoot on Hangover 2 as a tattooist in Thailand, and that's all I know about it," Neeson told Variety. "I just laughed my leg off when I saw The Hangover, I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV."

Neeson was reportedly invited to take on the role by pal and A-Team costar Bradley Cooper, who is starring in the flick. Cooper's choice probably went over a lot better than the producer's first pick, as the cast and crew flipped out at the thought of showcasing Gibson after his questionable behavior -- leading to Gibson's ousting.

As for Gibson, well, sources say he's not taking the firing too well. "He doesn't understand why Mike Tyson, a drug user who turned his life around, was given a chance while Mel was kicked to the curb," a source told the New York Post. "Everybody deserves a second chance."
