Reese Witherspoon: "Sometimes I Will Sit in the Car and Cry"

Reese Witherspoon has been a Hollywood star since she was a teenager -- but at 35 she says it's still a challenge balancing her celebrity life with her personal life. In the latest issues of Vogue, the mother of two, newly married to talent manager Jim Toth, opens up about her struggle to juggle kids, work and fame.

"Sometimes you feel like you are on a speeding train and you just don't know where it's going," says the Oscar-winning actress. "You can start to lose your identity and what it is that you are really working for."

Witherspoon explains that she has lots of "family meetings" with daughter Ava, 11, and son Deacon, 7, to make sure everybody is on the same page: "Mom’s going to be away and coming home on the weekends. How does everybody feel about that?" But even with that constant communication, the working-mother life is often a strain.

"I have my moments when I feel like I'm just going to collapse and I can't do it anymore and I'm failing at everything," she admits. "Like, you're kind of good at a bunch of stuff but not really good at anything."

The constant presence of paparazzi is an added pressure on Witherspoon's family life, one that she says occasionally breaks her down -- even though she knows how blessed she is in other ways.

"I mean, I feel like an ingrate for even thinking anything isn't good. I'm very, very, very lucky," she tells the magazine. "But... I parted with my privacy a long time ago. We went different ways. And sometimes I mourn it. Sometimes I will sit in the car and cry. Because I can't get out. That's the only thing: I mourn the loss of my privacy."

Yet through it all, Reese is one tough cookie. Her Water for Elephants costar Robert Pattinson witnessed her steeliness firsthand, when a horse stepped on her leg during shooting.

"I could see in Reese's face that it must have hurt more than anything, and she played it off like it was absolutely nothing," Pattinson recalls. "And then the next day she had this enormous bruise. It could have quite easily broken her leg, but she didn't mention it to anybody. She is just incredibly brave that way."

Witherspoon may not be an ordinary mom -- but that determination to work through the challenges, even the really painful ones, is something any mother can relate to!
