Do you like to talk smack about celebrities who irritate you? You might want to curb that habit.
On the CW's new reality show, H8R -- airing Wednesdays this fall at 8 p.m. ET -- stars surprise their detractors (with cameras present, of course) and confront them about their disparaging remarks.
"I just saw your rant about me," growls Jersey Shore's Snooki, bursting in on a ppol-playing anti-fan who called her a "drunken slob." "What do you have to say? What do you have to say after everything you just said about me? What do you have to say to my face?" (To the guy's credit, he ultimately doesn't back down, and calls her a drunken slob again.) Obviously, the show's creators target those celebs that people love to loathe. So they wrangled Kim Kardashian, too. "All of a sudden we got Kim K and now all these white persons got ass," complains a Kardashian hater named Deena. "She's f***ing up the game for me!" Cut to Kim K herself, ambushing Deena during a yoga class.
Remember the days when it wasn't considered mean to gossip about celebrities? After all, they were people you didn't know and would never meet anyway. But thanks to reality TV, stars aren't quite as remote or untouchable as they used to be. The scores of famous people who've emerged from American Idol, The Biggest Loser, The Real Housewives, Teen Mom, Survivor and countless other reality shows are more accessible than, say, Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. The fact is, you actually could meet a member of the Jersey Shore cast at a bar or in a yoga class.
