It was only a couple of months ago that people were asking, "Who is Rebecca Black?" The 13-year-old viral sensation appeared to come out of nowhere when the video for her annoyingly catchy song "Friday" was launched on Youtube.
But now viewers hoping to have "fun, fun fun" watching the vid are wondering why it's been pulled. It turns out, Black has found herself smack dab in the middle of a fierce legal battle against Ark Music Factory, the vanity label that produced the video "Friday".
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ark Music now wants to capitalize on the unexpected success of "Friday." Originally, Rebecca Black's mother paid Ark Music $2,000 to produce her daughter's video. The odds of "Friday" becoming so huge that it eventually would be performed by Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon, as well as the cast of Glee, were next to nothing.
But it happened, and now Ark Music and Team Rebecca Black are now fighting over who owns the rights to "Friday" -- rights which could eventually result in millions of dollars. If the parties cannot come to an agreement, then it will have to be settled in court.
Widely referred to as "the worst music video" ever made, "Friday" became the butt of many jokes, and Rebecca Black found herself under cyber attack. She even received death threats, which are now being investigated by the police.
The "Friday" video will remain blocked until the dispute is settled. In the meantime, Black fans can turn to Katy Perry's controversial "Last Friday Night" video to watch the 13-year-old star's guest appearance!
