Tommy Marth of The Killers Commits Suicide

Tommy Marth, a saxophonist who played with indie pop group The Killers, was found dead in his Las Vegas home Monday. According to local newspaper Las Vegas Weekly, the official cause of death has been ruled suicide. Marth, who is survived by his parents and two siblings, was 33 years old.

"Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth. Our prayers are with his family," Killers frontman Brandon Flowers wrote Tuesday on the band's official Twitter page. "There's a light missing in Las Vegas tonight. Travel well, Tommy."

Though Marth was never a permanent member of the band, he recorded with The Killers on 2006's Sam's Town and 2008's Day & Age -- and even toured with them to promote the latter album.

The band went on hiatus after the Day & Age tour ended in 2009, but are currently working on a new record that is due out this year.

Below, watch Marth and The Killers perform at London's famed Royal Albert Hall in the summer of 2009.
