Neil Patrick Harris Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Neil Patrick Harris Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Neil Patrick Harris, one of Hollywood's most versatile (and hilarious!) leading men, received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Sept. 15.

With his fiance David Burtka by his side, the How I Met Your Mother star was applauded by celebrity friends and colleagues Jason Segel and Joss Whedon.

"Neil has been entertaining us in television, stage, the Internet and film for over 60 years," Segel joked as he introduced his HIMYM costar to the crowd.

But the joke isn't all that far off, since Harris, 38, started working in Hollywood at age 15 and landed a starring role in his own television show at 16 -- the memorable Doogie Howser, M.D., which aired from 1989-1993. After a slow late '90s, the award-winning Triple Threat had a comeback in the 2000s, particularly after his scene-stealing supporting role in the stoner comedy Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and the 2005 premiere of CBS's hit  How I Met Your Mother.

"Quite simply, he's the mostly wildly talented person I've ever been around," Segel continued. "There's no jokes coming up in this part, this part's sincere: He can act and he can sing and he can dance, and he's a magician, and he can host and he can direct. Like Joss said, he has the kind of talent that people had in the old days when you had to actually be talented to be famous."

Harris was typically clever when he accepted the honor, joking, "As much of an honor as this is, unfortunately, it won't be the first time I've been plastered on the sidewalk in front of the Frolic Room," he said. "And yes, that includes right now."
