'Jersey Shore' Stars Land First Acting Gigs

'Jersey Shore' Stars Land First Acting Gigs

There are many ways to break into acting. You could, say, attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, or maybe even study "method acting" at New York City's Lee Strasberg Theatre. Or you could just get spend a couple of summers behaving like a lovable hooligan on a beach in Seaside Heights, NJ.

This is the route Jersey Shore stars Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, 29, and Vinny Guadagnino, 23, have taken, as both have successfully parlayed their reality-show stardom into acting jobs this fall.

People reports that Sorrentino, who had a dismal run on last season's Dancing with the Stars, will appear on the Yobi.Tv Web series, New Stage, which premieres on Sept. 27. He plays a hip-hop star who's a Simon Cowell-style judge on a fictional TV talent show.

And according to Entertainment Weekly, Guadagnino scored a gig with an even higher profile: In November, he'll appear on the CW's 90210 as a young celebrity who gets into a high-stakes poker game with Liam (Matt Lanter).

We can't say we're surprised. There's no denying that Jersey Shore is as hot as ever, giving its stars lots of clout with casting directors. And both of these knuckleheads have been talking up their acting ambitions lately.

Last month, Sorrentino told In Touch Weekly that "my true ambitions lie in TV and film." When asked whose career he'd like to emulate, he replied, "Obviously, I look up to (Robert) De Niro and (Al) Pacino, and for someone who's closer in age Leo (DiCaprio) -- I'd eventually like to make great movies someday," he says. "But I'm trying to go in a trajectory similar to 'The Rock,' (Dwayne Johnson), who took his bold personality and phrases from the WWE into film."

Guadagnino, meanwhile, has put his law school plans on hold for the world of entertainment. "I love show business," he told zap2it. "I love acting and I feel like acting and being a lawyer go hand-in-hand because you can kind of perform in a way. So, but acting is no. 1. If I can do that forever  -- I can't believe people even get paid for it."

Yeah, it is hard to believe.
