Donald Lapre Dead: Infomercial King Dies Of Apparent Suicide

Prison officials found Donald Lapre dead in his jail cell early Sunday morning of an apparent suicide. He was awaiting trial (which was to begin on Tuesday) after being charged with fraud in connection to his vitamin business. Lapre was found in his cell around 8:30 am Sunday, unresponsive, and according to TMZ, amid a ‘large amount of blood‘. He allegedly cut himself, but no information given on what he used to do so. This is not the first time he had tried to take his life. Lapre allegedly tried to commit suicide this past summer, while he was on the lam after failing to appear at his arraignment in June. He was hiding at a Lifetime Fitness facility in Tempe, and allegedly took a knife to his leg attempting to slice a major artery and bleed to death. Authorities later pulled over a vehicle where the bleeding Lapre was a passenger, with a major gash to his thigh and groin area. The TV pitchman was accused of allegedly scamming 220,000 people into selling his vitamins through pyramid schemes and other ‘get rich quick’ tactics.
