Madonna treated Nicki Minaj to a tender birthday kiss this year, but there's another female pop star Madge just can't get off her mind: Britney Spears. It seems that the "Give Me All Your Luvin'" singer is dying to lock lips with Britney a good nine years after they first kissed during a now legendary performance at the 2003 VMAs.
How do we know this? The Material Girl said so herself, responding to Spears' gushing tweet about her pal's newly released record MDNA. "Love the new album - every single song is incredible," Spears, 30, wrote on Wednesday. "congrats girl!"
Innocent enough, right? Well, Madge quickly took things to the next level. "Please come on stage and kiss me again," the 53-year-old Queen of Pop tweeted back. " I miss you!!"
The way we remember it, Madonna kissed Britney, but Spears apparently isn't a stickler for details. She merely shot back a demure, "Tempting..." Madonna responded, "Are you gonna make me work for this?" Brit's simple answer? "Why of course!"
This most likely just some lighthearted teasing, of course, but part of us likes to think that the two pop stars are setting the stage for a 10th anniversary encore of their 2003 VMAs makeout session. But this time around, as one Twitter follower pointed out, Katy Perry could sub in for Christina Aguilera (who also peformed with Spears and Madonna -- and, yes, also kissed Madge) for a rendition of Perry's breakout single "I Kissed A Girl."
Either way, this is definitely as good an excuse as any to revisit Madonna, Spears and Aguilera's infamous "Hollywood" performance. Watch it below!
