Demi Moore's Friends Say She's Doing Great

Demi Moore's Friends Say She's Doing Great

Demi Moore is having a tough week, but her Hollywood pals have every confidence that she'll pull through. The actress was rushed to the hospital last Monday after suffering a seizure (likely a bad reaction to some kind of drug). Is she falling apart after her separation from Ashton Kutcher? No, say friends -- it's just a minor bump in the road.

"I just saw her and she's doing great. I think she's doing much better than it's made out to be," director Patti Jenkins told E! News at the Directors Guild Awards on Saturday night. "Demi is awesome and so strong. I also hate when people make it a bigger drama than what is going on. She's great."

Talking to the press at Maksim Chmerkovskiy's birthday party on Friday, Kirstie Alley echoed the sentiment that Moore is stronger than she may appear.

"Demi is a smart, insightful girl and she will work through it," said the comedienne. "I have no doubts. I love Demi. She'll work it out."

Alley's former Dancing with the Stars partner said that he feels for Demi, especially since she has to face her problems in the public eye.

"It's sad that a lot of stuff is public knowledge," said Chmerkovskiy. "With situations like this, you could deal without everybody knowing about it. From what I know of her and from people who know her say, she's an amazing, strong woman and I hope she'll be all right."

Another guest at the party, Sherri Shepherd, added that Moore is "a survivor" who "will get back up and get through this."

While everyone has pretty much assumed that her impending divorce triggered Moore's crisis, it may not be that simple. A longtime friend of the actress told E! that it's "not just about Ashton," but about the compounded pressures of Hollywood.

"It's really more about the toll it takes on any ambitious woman in this town," says the friend. "Meaning constantly having to prove you're not just a pretty face but a talented actor, as well. Constantly having to prove you're a good mother, not just a celebutante around town who goes to parties instead of looking after her family. Having to stay sober in a town that's so not."

And though Kutcher has reportedly expressed concern about his ex, Demi's pal says he needs to look at the whole picture.

"I'm sure Ashton would like to think it's all about him," says the friend.

Moore's rep stated on Tuesday that the actress is "seeking professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health."
