Jeremy Renner Attacked in Thailand Bar Brawl?

Jeremy Renner Attacked in Thailand Bar Brawl?

A word to the wise: Try very hard to avoid dropping a glass on the floor of a bar in Thailand at 4:30 in the morning. That small misstep just might get you stabbed in the stomach and attacked with a battle axe.

A report filed by local police in Phuket, Thailand, says Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol actor Jeremy Renner was drinking with Vorasit Issara, a 31-year-old general manager at a nearby resort, and four others at the Rachada Pub Wednesday morning, when Issara dropped a glass. This sparked a fight in which six of the bar's staff members attacked Issara and his party with weapons as varied as a knife, a lead pipe, a wooden club, a table leg and a homemade battle axe.

According to The Phuket News, Issara was stabbed in the stomach with a knife and slashed in the back with the battle axe, and is now in stable condition at a local hospital. The six staff members of the pub have confessed to the assault and been charged with attempted murder.

So how was Renner, 40, involved in all this? Well, it turns out he actually wasn't. The actor's rep tells Entertainment Weekly that Renner was indeed at the bar that night, but exited before the fight, sustained no injuries, and is now back in Manila (the capital of the Phillipines) filming The Bourne Legacy. We're glad to hear that Jeremy abides by the "nothing good ever happens after 2 a.m." rule.
